Nature Walk ThroughThe Emilie K. Hammond Wildflower Trail

Saturday, April 27, 2 p.m.

We are celebrating Earth Day month with a 90 minute tour of the native wildflower trail at Tourne Park. Lee Gaitskill and Sue Salsberg of the Rockaway Valley Garden Club will discuss the history of the trail and the importance of native plants. We then take a leisurely stroll inside the deer exclosure where Lee and Sue will serve as our expert guides pointing the native spring ephemerals in bloom.

Parking & Meetup

We meet at Tourne Park in the parking lot where the Pavillion and ballfields are located.  Most people know where that is.  This parking area is past the first parking lot and the entrance to the Wildflower Trail where you find the 4 parking spaces.  We will walk down the hill as a group to the Trail entrance.

Please note that the entrance to the park is off of Powerville Road and onto McCaffrey Lane. (the GPS app often sends visitors to the entrance off of Old Denville Road.)

The trail surface is a bit uneven, so appropriate footwear is recommended.
